Within the Brains4Buildings programme, Tousif co-authored a practical framework for integrating privacy, security and ethics into smart-building projects, reviewed by Siemens and the Rijksvastgoedbedrijf, and extended it into a peer-reviewed article for REHVA Journal.

The framework connects responsible data use with organisational responsibilities: who decides what is collected, who is accountable for it, and how those decisions support, rather than obstruct, digital adoption.
